You don't need claims; you need numbers. In a test, the Volvo EC350E and EC380E excavators moved up to 15 percent more per hour and cost up to 20 percent less per ton compared to competitors — numbers that boost both productivity and profits.

Lincoln Electric introduces an updated VIKING PAPR 3350 Welding Helmet, now with 4C lens technology and an optional extended battery pack. The 4C lens technology upgrade improves the optics and reduces eye strain by minimizing the lime-green coloring in the liquid crystal display (LCD) in both active and inactive states. This technology gives operators the ability to see a clear and undistorted view of the welding arc and puddle to maximize control and minimize defects. 4C technology is ideal for a range of industries that use multiple welding processes, such as stick, MIG and TIG, including general fabrication, power generation, shipbuilding, structural, offshore and pipeline.
The new Fusion 160 from Miller Electric is a versatile welder/generator that offers portability for outdoor work, while also providing the ability to weld safely indoors without starting the gas engine — thanks to industry-exclusive PowerShift technology. The Fusion 160 is ideal for a wide range of industrial applications including construction, maintenance and repair, farm and ranch, and service trucks.
Approximately twenty years ago, those of us working in the off-road heavy equipment industry regularly witnessed a high amount of failures in machines operating on cement or other hard surfaces. Extended steel rims were used with small, hard, rubber wheels. When these rubber tires chipped and chunked, vibrations and bouncing sent shockwaves into the machine, causing shortened life and expensive repairs, not to mention stress on operators. Drivetrain components (U-joints and articulation joints) in particular often suffered from stress cracks caused by vibrations and a bouncing machine.

As the fleet supervisor for a public works department, Jim (Buzz) Kirby manages a lot of different equipment to keep operations running smoothly. Overseeing the equipment includes writing specs and performing evaluations, and overseeing the maintenance and repair of all equipment within the department. In addition, Kirby is responsible for making recommendations for upgrades. After it became apparent that the city of Livonia's outdated trailer-mounted air compressors needed an upgrade, Kirby audited the department's equipment needs, and sought to solve the challenges operators had been describing.
The forklift fork is often overlooked and under-inspected. Many are unaware of how often one should inspect their forks, and how to inspect them. Federal law (OSHA Standards 29 CFR 1910.178) mandates that forklift forks which see around-the-clock use should be inspected on a per-operation basis. As part of a pre-operation inspection, forklift forks should ideally be inspected for signs of cracks, bends, excessive wear or damage to either the fork tine or the positioning lock when using an ITA mounted fork.
